5 Mistakes That Make Driving Pressure Worse

1. Choosing a narrow waistband for comfort. Narrow feels lighter standing and concentrates all its tension over a thin strip of skin. Wide bands distribute the same holding force over more area and mark far less, which is the opposite of what most people assume.

2. Folding the waistband over before a drive. Folding doubles the fabric and creates a hard edge right where the crease forms. It is the single most reliable way to produce a mark.

3. Wearing a band with an internal elastic core for long journeys. A separate elastic strip inside a casing does not stretch with your body; it holds a fixed circumference and digs in when that circumference changes. Fully knitted or bonded bands adapt.

4. Tucking a bulky top in. Every additional layer under the band adds thickness where the seatbelt already presses. Untucked, or a thin base layer only.

5. Sitting for the whole drive without a single adjustment. Continuous, unrelieved pressure is what causes marking. One stop, one stand-up, one reset of the band.

What should you actually wear and change?

Fix the garment, the seat, and the journey β€” in that order.

Choose a wide, high-rise, graduated band. Wide spreads the load, high-rise puts the top edge above the crease rather than in it, and a graduated edge that fades in compression prevents a hard line. This combination solves most of the problem on its own.
